If you have Jimmy Buffett fever, be sure to get your concert tickets ASAP! They always sell out quickly, as Jimmy Buffett is a favorite of many North Texas residents. get in on the margaritaville madness!
I have been retweeted by Duran Duran!
Saturday, January 26, 2013
As many of you know, I am a huge Duran Duran fan.
So huge that I actually felt butterflies in my stomach (almost to the point of nausea!) when I saw that Duran Duran retweeted one of my tweets on Twitter, today...
It was almost as awesome as when I was at the VH-1 Pepsi Fan Jam two years ago in Dallas and after the concert, Simon LeBon reached down and squeezed my hand. I thought I would faint right then and there!
At 39, they still have me starstruck. LOL!
First day of school in Frisco!
Monday, August 14, 2006
Well, school has officially begun in Frisco! Today was their first day, and everything went pretty smoothly except that Domonique missed the bus (didn't have enough time to finish her hair AND put her mascara on - what a tragedy! HAHA!) so we had to drive her! The bus comes about 15 minutes earlier this year, so she has to boogie a little bit faster in the morning or else get up earlier. Seems like no matter how early you wake up a teenage girl, she WILL still be running out the door last minute, still not having quite enough time! Matthew spent almost two hours on the bus on the way home because the bus now picks up at his high school and the new high school, so by the time he got home he had about 5 minutes to shovel down some food then head right back to school for marching band practice! If tomorrow takes as long, we will just pick him up. It is ridiculous to have to spend almost two hours on the bus.
So we took "normal" (is my family normal?!?) shots and silly shots! The above are my favorite pics of Matthew and Alex. Domonique couldn't be in the picture because she was still off in the bathroom somewhere running a hair dryer. Geesh. Below are my favorite two pictures of her - again, one "normal" and one silly. They are growing up too fast.
Today I got an e-mail from my 5th grade gym teacher! It turns out that she moved to Frisco in 1995 even though I had her as a teacher in Oklahoma, and I saw her photo/bio in the local newspaper so I e-mailed her. She wrote back, remembered me, and we are going to try to meet for lunch! She just retired this year from being the principal of Anderson elementary right here in Frisco! It can be such a small world sometimes.
Speaking of the local paper, I got asked by the Frisco Enterprise newspaper to be interviewed about me writing for the "Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker's Soul" book! I thought it was really cool, although I am still wondering how they got my telephone number! I will post more details as soon as I know them. :) Wish me luck!
OK, I have to throw in my music for the day! HAHA! I love the song "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood (yes, I warned you that I am an 80's nut!) so if you also like that song, you should listen to "Relax" by Powerhouse 5000. It is a great version of the original with an alternative edge. I blare it regularly. :)
Thanks for reading. :)

Here is a layout of mine that was hanging in the Basic Grey booth at CHA. It is one of my favorites. The first and only time I have ever created anything with Basic Grey, and now I am hooked! Just got the new Gypsy and LilyKate lines in the mail (thanks Amy - you rock!) so I am chomping at the bit to tear into those packages and create something!
I am so not ready for school to start. Domonique has been begging me to teach her how to put on eyeliner. I am not ready for this! EYELINER! Geesh, seems like yesterday I was changing her diapers. The time goes by faster than I can keep up. They will go back to school in less than three weeks. School supply shopping = done. School clothes? Now that is another story! Found a great sale on True Religion jeans and Juicy Couture, so Domonique is all happy about that! Back to Nordstrom's in the next two weeks to pick up some cool clothes for them. Still need to find out where the Mavericks get their shoes so I can get Matthew some more skiis for his feet. HAHA!
Well, the BHG stuff is finally starting to sink in a little! I am really excited about starting some assignments. My legs have recovered from walking the floor at CHA (finally!) and now I am ready to dive into some new projects headfirst. Thank you to those of you who sent me such kind words and encouraging e-mails as well as your congrats on making the BHG team! I came home to several hundred really cool e-mails! If I haven't answered you yet, I will very soon! Still catching up.
So what are you listening to? I am in love with "Far Away" by Nickelback and "Me & You" by Cassie (my phone's ringtone, by the way - LOL!). I have also downloaded some more 80's stuff (as always!) and some cool remixes of old favorites. There is an awesome cover of "Wicked Game" by a band called HIM that sounds great - check it out if you like the old Chris Isaak favorite.
Ok, cereal time. My late night snack. Frosted Mini-Wheats this time. Yummy! Later!

I don't usually do two page layouts, but I created this one for Chatterbox for a Michael's project. I like how it turned out. It is on the simple side, but that is how the project was supposed to be. :)
This week has flown by! I can't believe it is almost Friday already! I am so excited about CHA coming up next month, and celebrating the 4th of July. We don't have any special plans for the 4th, but we will undoubtedly watch some fireworks somewhere and have some great food. Frisco has been having a horrible drought, so hopefully people will heed the warnings and not set off fireworks with these dry conditions. Send us some rain vibes, will ya? ;)
So do you have any great scrapbooking goals? I have one really big one and a few smaller ones. I have been working hard to make those goals happen, so wish me the best of luck! Tell me what your goals are so I can help cheer along with you. Along with the rain vibes, send me some good luck vibes, too! HEEHEE! ;)
Just got my layout back from the July BHG issue. I adore this issue! So many terrific pages by some amazing artists! I especially loved Dana Smith's layout of her two boys on page 102 and Leah's page on page 103. If you don't have this issue, you GOTTA get it!
Jamming out to the iPod...
- Holiday by Madonna
- Be Without You by Mary J. Blige
- Amber is the Color of Your Energy by 311
- Anything by Rascal Flatts
Wide variety, there. LOL! I listen to some strange variations, sometimes. Throw in some Pavarotti or Bocelli and I am good. :)
New Chatterbox papers today!!
Wednesday, June 28, 2006
Wow oh wow!! I got my new Chatterbox paper in today. Holy cow, the box was heavy, and had about 8 inches of glorious new papers! I already have them all neatly put away (getting better about organizing this crazy scrapbook room!). If you want a sneak peek, check out Christy's blog!
So, a sad note. My stepdad passed away three years ago, and both my mom and stepdad owned a home in Norman, Oklahoma that I actually lived in for a while when Matthew was small. Well, since he passed, things got difficult for my mom and she was forced to put the house on the market. As of Sunday, she has found a buyer for it, but it has been pretty hard on her because it is the last thing left that they both owned together. She has been pretty down about it, and I really am sad to see the house get sold, since I have lots of memories for it myself. It isn't really anything special as far as the house itself - just a 5 bedroom, two story, big blue house that holds lots and lots of memories. Even Matthew remembers living there, and he was really young. So while it is a good thing that there is a buyer for it, it is still sad to see it have to sell.
Anyhow. LOL
Speaking of sad (hahaha) my 15th high school reunion is coming up! UGH!! Did I say UGH?? I am not sure if I will go. It is only a two hour drive or so for me, but still, I am not too sure that people would recognize me anyway! LOL! Still thinking on that one. I was listening to my iPod earlier tonight and heard a couple of songs that really remind me of high school. "You Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer, "Bust a Move", "Don't Want to Fall in Love" by Jane Child, "I Wanna Sex You Up" by Color Me Badd, etc. Can you tell what kind of music I listened to? I will kindly leave out the Too Short, 2 Live Crew, and NWA. HAHAHA! ;)
Back to work! Sorry - no interesting photos to accompany my banter, but I will post this amusing picture of me when I was three. Anyone remember Holly Hobby? ;) My mom scanned this one for me a while back. Look at the squareness of those little people toys!!! Cracks me up!
Have a great night!
